'Tis Been Awhile

So, it has been quite some time since I have posted on this thingy. It has been a pretty interesting school year so far, friends are having babies, and getting engaged, I have a boyfriend that I am crazy about. So it has all started off well. There has been sadness though...my good friend's sister passed away this past Saturday after they were in a car accident and it was really sad b/c she was such an awesome person and I didn't really have that much time to get to know her. It just make you appreciate your friends and family that much more, you know? I'm doing well in all of my classes which is awesome, and I've been managing to not skip class so much. I'll be back in D-Town in October, so keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground.

so i just finished reading a clockwork orange. it was pretty freakin awesome, just like the movie which is one of the best movies ever made in my opinion. anywho, the only thing i had a problem with was the restoration of the 21st chapter. i agree that it just doesn't match the tone of the book...i mean maybe Alex did grow up and out of his old ways, but the way it happens in the last chapter is just so unconvincing and it's just like wtf mate? now i want to watch the movie and i have a strong desire to start speaking in nadsat (the slang from the book/movie), really i just want to be british.

on a completely unrelated note, i just saw a commercial for the new Bring It On sequel...why must it always be the "urban ghetto" squad vs the "rich, preppy, suburban squad"...i mean seriously. they might as well start calling these movies "A stuck-up, privileged white girl gets transported to the 'other side of the tracks' and faces obstacles at every turn, especially from the so-called leader of the pack. Can [insert cliched white cheerleader name here] navigate this "urban jungle"? Can [insert cliched black-girl name here] let down her walls and see a different point of view? Watch and see if these two girls put aside their differences and find a way to become friends and Bring It On!!!..." i've pretty much spelled out the entire plot of this movie, and the sad thing is i'm probably still going to want to watch it b/c i love cheerleading, and i think Hayden Panatierre is a cute little actress.

in other movie news Talledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is going to be the funniest movie of the summer. if you haven't seen Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, you should see it b/c it is the first part of Will Ferrell's "Overrated American Man" trilogy (or whatever it was called in the interview i read). the next movie is going to be more "R" leaning than PG-13, so expect to see naked Will Ferrell in the near future.

to end this post i would just like to vent that Tyler from the Real World: Key West is pissing me off. he is nothing but a bitchy little queen who needs to shut the hell up and be a little less diva-ish before someone slaps that smug little look off his face...wow that was mean, but he really does get on my nerves.

i'm peacin' out for v*town next thursday people, so lets do something 'kay?

the above title refers to My Super Ex Girlfriend which was hilarious. Uma Thurman was great and Luke Wilson was cute and of course Anna Faris was adorable. i'm glad i (alejandro) didn't spend money on Lady in the Water b/c as much as i wanted to see it, the reviews were terrible, i mean the AJC gave it an "F", hell they gave See No Evil a "D", so it has to be bad y'know? anywho, it's time for me to sleep.

so i have finally finished reading this book that i have been reading off and on since december. it was worth it, i finally took time this summer to get absorbed in the story and it is one of the best books i have read in a long time (Wicked was good too, but I was left in anticipation of Son of a Witch). it's funny b/c i read the book based on the description of the movie which was directed by one of my favorite actors-Liev Schriber. now i so must see the movie, and i'm glad i read the book first instead of running out and seing the movie and then reading the book. i strongly recommend you go out and get a copy of this book. now i must give all of my attention to Rescue Me.

You, Me, and A Pretty Good Movie

so i just got back from watchin "You, Me, and Dupree" w/alejandro and kamali. it was quite funny, but then again it has owen wilson, so of course there was laughter. micheal douglas was in it too: he's not looking too bad and his character is pretty hilarious "what would you think about a hyphenation?" ha. this has been a very good summer, one of the best since God knows when. i hope the trend keeps going so i can go back to valdosta thinking "man i wish..." as for v-town, i really can't wait to go back because there are 5 people that i want to see uber much and give big giant bear hugs to. i have more special people than that, but these people are special-er. um, i don't have anything really that interesting to say, i just felt the need for an update. i think i'll go read now.

Target: Store of Amazingness

This evening, Alejandro and I went to Target so I could spend the gift card I got from Chelsea for my b-day. Lemme tell ya, you can spend many many hours in Target and still not be satisfied. Alejandro and I cleaned up in the movie department, he got The Neverending Story parts I & II (2 for 1), Forrest Gump (special edition...which I soooo wanted), The Sweetest Thing, and South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut; I bought Natural Born Killers, Donnie Darko, The Secret Garden and A Little Princess (another 2 for 1), and I got the new Red Hot Chili Peppers cd (it was b/w that and the Wicked soundtrack and I figured that amongst my many theatre lovin amigos someone would have a copy for me to burn....hint, hint). After roaming around Target for 2 hours, I went home put my new stuff away and then went to Macaroni Grill w/the parentals and sister for my birthday. It was yummy, it's been awhile since I've been to MG so it was nice. I'd say that this was a pretty decent b-day weekend...I can't wait until I turn 21!!!

so i just finished watching the World Cup. it was a good finish, and i'm glad Italy won esp. after Zidane was a little bitch and headbutted an Italian player and then acted outraged when he got red carded. ass, you could've retired gracefully. you know what sucks? the game went to penalty kicks and as i turned my eyes back to the screen, i don't see football (soccer) but golf. freakin abc/espn decided that golf (the most boring sport ever) was more important than the final game of the World Cup. so i had to watch the last part of the game on Univision...that's right the Spanish channel, and even though i didn't understand a thing they said other than "goooooaaaaallllll!!!!" it was still much more lively and animated than the US sportscasters. speaking of Univision, you should watch a telenovela one of these days, they are quite amusing.

in other news i am now 20 and am counting down the days until i go back to v-town!

I want a bunny, but until that happens I have made myself Riley's godmother. Cutest bunny ever, I swear. I had mucho fun yesterday it is only slighty documented on facebook since my ghetto-ass digital camera decided to have low battery- odd since I don't really use it. Anyways, yesterday was fun The Brilliant Inventions are awesome and 99x doesn't suck quite as much anymore. I have to go now.
